Honoring the Coolidge’s Joe Zina: Champagne, Performance and, oh yes, Film

Mon. Nov. 17

Joe Zina, executive director of the Coolidge Corner Theatre, is gone (sort of), but not forgotten (definitely). By "sort of" we mean he's stepped down from his top dog post, but will continue his association by being on the anniversary planning committee, helping to celebrate Year 75 at the Coolidge. The theatre was born Dec. 30, 1933 – smCoolidge Corner Theatreack dab in the middle of the Depression, the first Depression – and throughout 2009 the Coolidge will hold a slew of commerative events. But that's not what Monday Nov. 17 is about. (Although they'll reveal some of next year's ideas.) The night really belongs to Zina and as such we have a  night called   "Zinapalooza." It starts at 7:00 with a champagne toast and delectable treats followed by film, dance and musical tributes.
Included in the line-up are performances by the Boston Conservatory Hoofers and Fernanda Cajide & New England Tango Ensemble. There will also be other surprise entertainers, tributes, and film clips from some of Zina’s favorite movies.
“I look forward to seeing everyone who is interested in joining in on the festivities,” says Zina. “I am so honored that members of the Board and staff wanted to put this evening together. It’s going to be fun and casual. And, of course, we’ll also be toasting and celebrating this important upcoming anniversary for the Coolidge. This is a significant transitional era for the theater. My work over the past decade has focused
on restoring and renovating this stunning original Art Deco movie palace." Hit "read more" to learn about two Anniversary related events in December.
Complimentary tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis to Coolidge members and supporters. Contact Amber at the phone number or e-mail address below.
